Re-useable Cotton Bags spead the PU3P message!

Last year the P2F class designed a logo to help people think about Picking Up Three Pieces at The Peedie Sea. Now the design has been used to make  stickers for the bins at The Peedie Sea, and re-useable bags which are for sale for £2.50 in school.

Well done P2F - what a clever design! Three swans ( a swan is our school logo) all trying to eat litter.
Next time you are out for a walk at the Peedie Sea look out for the bins and you'll be able to admire
the bins and the swans who spend the winter there.

Our Glaitness Playground Litter Warriors!

Every day volunteers get out into the playground with litter pickers and make sure there is no litter ready to blow across into the Peedie Sea or the ocean beyond and harm wildlife. We do have bins but we know that things are dropped by accident or get blown away when people are putting things in the bin on a windy day. There is no rota for this important job - all of these people choose to help the environment because they want to, and they have received a certificate which recognises their hard work and dedication.

Green Swans Challenge - Can you bring a good snack food every day?

What makes a good snack food?

Healthy: containing some vitamins, minerals or nutrients for the body
Less refined or less processed the better: the food maintains its nutrients
Contains protein and carbohydrate: lasts longer in the stomach and sustains the appetite
Small in size and volume: easier to eat and less daunting to try
Not packaged, or in re-usable packaging: no unnecessary wrappers

Probably the best snack food out there is a piece fresh fruit. It is conveniently packed in its own wrapper (which most times can be eaten) and any waste if discarded completely breaks down (or consumed by animals or birds).

Other great snack items are:
Yogurt (taken to school in a washable container with lid)
cheese and dip such as hummus or guacamole
crackers or breaksticks
mini bowls containing sliced ham, olives, cheese
dried fruit and cereal pieces.
